Montm\u00e9rac est une commune nouvelle du Sud Charente, issue de la fusion de Lam\u00e9rac et de Montchaude. La commune nouvelle entraine la transformation des deux anciennes communes en \u00ab communes d\u00e9l\u00e9gu\u00e9es \u00bb et dont la cr\u00e9ation a \u00e9t\u00e9 ent\u00e9rin\u00e9e par l\u2019arr\u00eat\u00e9 du 10 d\u00e9cembre 2015. 
Ses 740 habitants sont r\u00e9partis sur 2339 ha.\u200b
Travers\u00e9s par le Tr\u00e8fle et le Petit Tr\u00e8fle, les paysages se d\u00e9roulent en douces collines entre la Double Saintongeaise au sud et la champagne viticole de Cognac au nord.\u200b
L’\u00e9conomie est essentiellement rurale mais cette localit\u00e9 est attractive pour les travailleurs de centres urbains plus importants : Barbezieux, Jonzac, Cognac, Angoul\u00eame et Bordeaux.
La production agricole y est largement represent\u00e9e ; \u00e9levages bovin, avicole, canin,  sylviculture, viticulture, horticulture, maraichage, arboriculture, c\u00e9r\u00e9ales, ol\u00e9agineux\u2026.
L’artisanat y est aussi largement pr\u00e9sent, tous corps d’\u00e9tat du b\u00e2timent, transport, distillateurs et commer\u00e7ants.<\/summary>\n
